Last year was big for foldable phones! We saw the launch of the first-ever trifold smartphone, the Huawei Mate XT, and it completely changed the game. With its innovative design and massive screen, it opened up a whole new way to use smartphones. Unfortunately, due to Huawei’s ongoing situation, the Mate XT isn’t available worldwide.

But don’t worry—this is just the beginning. More brands are gearing up to launch their trifold smartphones in 2025(we will see if they make it), and the next few months could be super exciting!

Samsung has been teasing trifold phone concepts for years, and rumor has it that 2025 could finally be the year we see one hit the market. This device is expected to be similar to the Huawei Mate XT, offering a huge display when fully unfolded. Since Samsung is a leader in foldable display tech, it’s probably just a matter of time before their trifold dream becomes a reality.

Recently, new rumors suggest, that unlike the Mate XT, Samsung’s trifold Galaxy could open in accordion style, but we’ll see.

2. Samsung’s Vertical Trifold

Samsung isn’t stopping at just one trifold design! There’s also a vertical trifold concept, similar to the Galaxy Z Flip.

In the last few years we saw many concepts by Samsung, so we could only guess if it will be like the image above, or like Galaxy flip, but with one more flip, which will make it extra long.

Only time will tell how the device will look, but it could be one of the most futuristic foldable designs we’ve seen!

The Phantom Ultimate 2 concept shows how a trifold display can be more than just a bigger screen—it can actually add new features and functionality. The company is trying to position itself in the new segment, and surely, it would like to be one of the first to release a trifold phone.

4. TCL Trifold Phone

The big question: Will it just be a concept, or will they actually launch a trifold phone? We’ll have to wait and see!

6. Oppo’s Mysterious Trifold Phone

Could we see a surprise Surface phone in the future? Probably not, but there may come a time to use these patents in another device, especially with the recent Windows on Arm improvements.
