At IFA 2025, Philips made huge announcements, becoming the main star of the event. This was the company’s biggest launch in its history.
Wonder what was so exciting? Well, let’s not waste our time and go straight to the point:
- We finally saw the highly anticipated Hue Bridge Pro
- Philips introduced the game-changing Motion Aware Feature
- We saw a brand new smart light series, called Philips Hue Essential
- Philips Hue introduced its first Hue Secure Smart Doorbell
- We saw New Striplights, Updated Philips Hue A19, New Festavia Permanent Lights, and Festavia Globe String Lights
- Sonos Partnership
Let’s see all the new things in detail:
Hue Bridge Pro
The next-generation Hue Bridge for Philips Hue lights comes with crazy improvements, and it’s quite expected, since the first one was announced over a decade ago.
It includes more power with its new chipset, with 8GB of RAM and 8GB of storage. Hue Bridge Pro supports up to 150 hue lights and over 50 accessories, and can run 500 scenes simultaneously.
The new device also runs on Wi-Fi and Ethernet, so it should no longer be placed only around your router. There is even a USB-C port for charging, which simplifies things.
If you have the old model, but you are planning to upgrade, don’t worry! The new model allows you to easily transfer your setups and scenes with no effort.
Motion Aware
The biggest new feature of Philips Hue Pro is called Motion Aware. And it is the thing that will make you want to update your old Bridge.
This feature allows your Hue bulbs to act as motion sensors and turn on and off without the need for external sensors. The technology works thanks to the faster processor of Bridge Pro and requires at least 3 Philips Hue lights in one room in order to work.
Philips Hue Essential
We saw a brand new smart light series, called Philips Hue Essential – with this new line, the company is stepping up into the low-cost segment, to compete with the rising competition.
The ecosystem includes budget-friendly bulbs that start from $20 per bulb(when in a 4-bulb pack). The difference between the budget version and classic ones is slightly reduced brightness, a smaller white spectrum, and less precise dimming. The Essential light bulbs are available in E27 and GU10 sockets.
Hue Essential Lightstrips will complete the line in a few sizes, starting from $59.99.
The best part about the new Essential line is that it doesn’t require a Hub – you can simply connect them and control them via the Hue app, voice assistants, and more.
Hue Secure Smart Doorbell
The first Hue smart doorbell works great with the Hue lights, allowing lights to notify you with a light change when somebody is in front of the door.
The Hue Secure Doorbell specs include:
- 2K fisheye camera designed to deliver clear, wide-angle views of your front door
- 24-hour video recording without a subscription
- Philips Hue ecosystem integration
- Apple Home support is not yet available, but it will come in a future update
The Hue Secure Doorbell will be available in the US and Europe starting October 2025.
New Striplights
The Hue Striplights also got a refreshing update, as follows:
OmniGlow will get advanced CSP (chip-scale-package) technology to eliminate the “spotty” look often found in strips. With 170 LEDs per square centimeter, it delivers ultra-smooth light. Additionally, dimming goes all the way down to 0.5% but at maximum it reaches 4,500 lumens.
Philips Hue Flux Strip Lights bring some more flexible options – a standard Flux strip &Flux Ultra Bright. The ultra-bright model pushes brightness up to 6,000 lumens.
The Flux Strip Lights will now be available for outdoor use in two new models:
– Flux outdoor strip light
– Neon-style outdoor strip light
The new lightstrips come with a set of new accessories. There are new corners, blackout cables, and extenders that stretch up to 20 meters.
Updated Philips Hue A19
The best-seller A19 is also getting some improvements! The new model comes with better efficiency (more efficient than the previous one), and improved dimming – now going down to 0.2% brightness, which is quite impressive!
A19 – 4-bulb pack, A19 2-bulb pack, A19 1 bulb
New Outdoor Lights
The Festavia Globe string lights kick things off in two options – 22 ft (7m) and 45 ft (14m).
They deliver rich colors, tunable white light, and the same fun effects you already know from the Festavia lineup. Plus, their globe design gives them a stylish look, so your backyard instantly feels like a designer space.
Festavia Permanent Lights are another great addition to the Festivia line. These are permanently fixed lights in two sizes – 90ft (27m) and 150ft (46m).
They are designed to make your whole house glow all night! Perfect for events like parties, Halloween, Christmas, and so on, to set up a mood for the whole neighborhood.
New Sonos Partnership
Hue and Sonos start a new partnership, with which Sonos’ voice assistant can control Hue Lights.
Making all these announcements, Philips Hue is definitely stepping up as a leader in the smart light and smart home market.
