Oura Ring – the innovative brand that created a brand new tech category – Smart Rings, is preparing its next-generation tech-packed ring for release. Of course, after the release of Oura Ring 4 back in 2024 and all the improvements we saw, we all wonder – what more can Oura implement in its next-generation smart ring?

So, here are all rumors, leaks, and basically everything we know so far:

Oura Ring 5 Release Date

Unlike the smartphone market, the ring market is not driven by a year-cycle. Instead, most brands offering smart rings, including Oura, release new smart rings every 3-4 years. Oura releases its next-gen rings every 3 years (2015, 2018, 2021, and 2024) – with this strategy, the company gives itself time to develop new technologies, work on refinement, and solve issues.

Based on that, we could assume the Oura Ring 5 will be released in late 2027, most likely in October, just for the Holiday season.

Yet the things aren’t that simple – with the new competitors entering the market, including the Samsung Galaxy Ring, Oura is rushed more than ever before to compete with all the alternatives.

Oura Ring 5 – New Features

Competitors improve and introduce new features, yet Oura still has some exciting cards in its hand! So what can we expect from the next Oura smart ring?

1. Glucose monitoring

In early 2025, Oura announced a major partnership with Dexcom – a leading continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) company. This could transform the Oura Ring 5 into a serious device for metabolic health tracking. With two years of joint development time before the expected Gen 5 launch, glucose-related insights may soon become part of Oura’s ecosystem.

2. Gesture controls

Imagine controlling your music, answering calls, or snapping photos with just a hand gesture. The Galaxy Ring already offers such a useful feature to control your Galaxy Phone, so it will make sense for Oura to offer something similar.

3. Vibration alerts & silent alarms

Perfect for waking up without disturbing anyone – or getting subtle notifications without buzzing a smartwatch. Haptic feedback is a highly anticipated feature that will open many doors in smart ring use cases.

4. AI-powered health coaching

Oura is reportedly planning deeper AI integration, turning your data into personalized wellness insights, tips, and daily recommendations. With the huge data the company has, it will be exciting to see what Oura AI could offer.

5. Better Sensors & Tracking

Every Oura generation improves tracking, but this time we might see huge leaps. Expect better workout detection and more precise daily metrics across the board. Rumors also suggest more advanced sensors to deliver deeper insights and smarter stress monitoring.

6. Portable charging case + longer battery

Some sources claim the new Oura ring will offer 10+ day battery life, and a portable (travel-friendly) charging case.

7. Thinner Design

While Oura Ring 4 is already super thin and comfortable, Oura reportedly plans Gen 5 refinements in shape and weight.

Cheaper Oura Ring model & Reduced Subscription Fee?

As competitors offer some pretty good alternatives at more affordable prices and without a subscription plan, Oura needs to change its strategy!

Some rumors claim we will see a more affordable ring (Oura Ring Lite, Oura Ring Air, or Oura Ring SE, or whatever it’s called), together with the new Oura Gen 5.

Other rumors claim there are plans to change the subscription fee or offer more of the paid features for free to be more competitive.

Final Words

With all these exciting rumors, we can’t wait to see what the new Oura ring will offer!

One thing is for sure – with all the competition, the company needs to change something – offer new, unique, advanced features, or change its subscription/pricing strategy. In both cases – we, the buyers, will be the big winners!
